INTRODUCTION Thanks for purchasing Memory Master for the Icom IC-706. I feel sure that you will be pleased with the ease of operation and the versatility that has gone into the production of this software. Programming the memory channels from the front panel of a 706 can be a very time consuming and frustrating operation. Memory Master allows you to make changes to the 706's memory channels with ease. The program automatically sets up split frequencies for repeaters by comparing the VFO A and VFO B frequencies that you enter. If the frequencies are different, the program automatically turns on the SPLIT FUNCTION and stores the memory channel for repeater operation. SETUP Setup could not be easier. Just copy all the files to a directory of your choice on your hard drive. The program can also be run from a floppy, but it will be considerably slower. *****VERY IMPORTANT***** The IC-706 must be setup with a CI-V ADDRESS of 48H and a CI-V BAUD of 9600. These functions can be checked by looking at the menu display. To access the menu hold the LOCK button while pushing the POWER button. The radio will come on in the menu mode. Check the following menu items: Menu # Comment Value 21 CI-V ADDRESS 48H 22 CI-V BAUD 9600 23 CI-V TRN on You can look at each menu setting by pushing the UP or DOWN buttons. Changes can be made to a menu item by turning the VFO KNOB until the correct setting appears. Turn off the 706 by pushing the power switch to save the settings. OPERATION At the dos prompt type MM. The program will automatically read the MEMORY.DUH and COM.INI files and display their contents on the screen. The program will run with Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 and can be setup with an appropriate icon. Pressing the F1 key will advance the edit screen to each consecutive page. The frequency data for each memory channel will be displayed as it was stored in the MEMORY.DUH file. To edit a memory channel, press the F1 key until the page with the desired memory channel is displayed on the screen. Press the F3 key and follow the prompts. If you enter anything incorrectly the computer will indicate an incorrect response with a beep and allow you to reenter the data. Enter the VFO A and VFO B frequencies in MHZ. (Example 14.200) If you enter 14.200 for VFO A and 14.200 for VFO B Memory Master will automatically compare these frequencies and store 14.200 as a simplex frequency. To program repeater frequencies enter the transmit frequency into VFO A and the Receive frequency into VFO B. Memory Master will compare these two frequencies and automatically store them as split frequencies. (For Example: to store the 146.94 - repeater...you would enter 146.340 in VFO A and 146.940 into VFO B) As you edit memory channels they will be highlighted on the edit screen with green print on a red field and sent to the Memory.duh file. Once you have made all of the desired frequency changes on the edit screen you will be ready to program the IC-706. Check your com port setting ! Press F8 to toggle between COM 1 and COM 2. Press F6 and sit back and watch as your frequencies are programmed into the IC-706. It only takes about 2 minutes on most computers. Memory Master will start programming at memory channel 1 and continue to program all channels through 99. Memory Master will end with a beep and return back to the edit screen. DEMO VERSION The DEMO version of Memory Master is completely identical to the REGISTERED version except it will only program the first six memory channels on the IC-706. Please use the form provided in the register.doc file for registration. Thanks again for purchasing MEMORY MASTER. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to drop me a line. Ideas are welcomed !!! I feel sure that this program will evolve as your suggestions come in and I will repay your kindness by providing upgrades to registered users at a VERY reasonable price.
